On Saturday 11th May 2013, Ceri and Katie got married at Caerphilly Castle, south Wales.
After spending their time looking for a south Wales wedding DJ, Ceri and Katie decided to pick Desire Disco, Wedding DJ Cardiff for their special day.
The services they required were quite substantial as the venue itself lives up to it’s name – the Great Hall.
I met with Ceri and Katie to discuss their plans in full detail a few weeks prior to the wedding. We talked about the lighting, the music and the order of proceedings.
Following the meeting I got started on some song specific lighting to match the songs being requested by Ceri and Katie – this involved green lighting and strobes for “Michael Jackson – Thriller”. I’m glad we went ahead with this, firstly the track ended, then all of the lights went out, then came the creeping door and the footsteps. Everyone was wondering what was going on and when the lights started to flicker, I could see the smiles on Ceri and Katie’s faces. The beat kicked in and everyone went wild.
Caerphilly castle is a very big venue and many guests had been invited to the wedding. It was for this reason that the wireless microphone solution was requested. I had several wireless microphones on hand so that when the two best men did their joint speech, they had a microphone each. Small details like this make a big difference to the fluidity of the speeches and although guests may not have noticed how useful it was for them to have a microphone each, they certainly would have noticed the handing back and forth of a single microphone and the gaps between each person speaking.
Uplighting was chosen to compliment the castle architecture and it really worked a treat. Our new wireless battery powered uplighters were more than bright enough to reach the ceiling of the Great Hall and wash the walls with beautiful colours.
No other Cardiff wedding DJ company offers uplighting like ours, so if you’re having a grand wedding, you’ll appreciate the extra quality of our products.
The lighting system chosen consisted of our lighting columns and white starlit DJ booth. This system not only compliments the wedding decorations, it boasts incredible moving head lighting to cover every corner of the Caerphilly Castle.
Ceri and Katie had both chosen a more “alternative” theme for the music at their wedding as they wanted to be reminded of their days at Cardiff University. The guests too had similar tastes in music so the playlist went down a treat.
The night passed all too quickly and before anyone had noticed the time, the lights were on and it was time to draw to a close.
